World Village Radio will broadcast topical talks and a diverse playlist of music during the festival weekend, 23–24 May 2020. The online radio will feature interviews by both professional journalists and young adults participating in the Mieletöntä Valoa (‘Epic light’) project.
The live shows will be hosted by voices familiar to the festival, including media personality Renaz Ebrahimi, music journalist DJ Bunuel, producer-journalist Toimi Tytti and presenter J-P Hietsilta together with Mieletöntä Valoa presenters Emma Lehtovuori, Mervi Piispanen and Jani Välimäki.
In between the globe-hopping set of interviews you can hear a diverse selection of music from around the world, with the last two hours of the broadcast dedicated to special music programmes. Catch DJ Hermanni and DJ Goodblood of the Boom Shakalaka collective in the late Saturday afternoon and hear radio personality Papá Montero close out Sunday’s broadcast with a set of Latin rhythms.
A detailed programme for the festival radio will be published closer to the festival weekend. The broadcast is in Finnish, but some of the interviews are in English.
World Village Festival is producing the broadcast in cooperation with the Mieletöntä Valoa (Epic light) programme of the Sosped Foundation. Mieletöntä Valoa provides learning and internship opportunities in the field of media and culture for young adults in difficult circumstances.
